Application aid for drill channel fillings

Until recently, the most common method of treating cystically dilated drilling channels was to fill them with the patient's own bone from the iliac crest. The complication rate for this method is stated in the literature to be around 10%. The number, length and above all the diameter of the bone cylinders to be harvested is very limited. A much gentler method is the use of specially prepared bone cylinders from donor bone. These cylinders can be inserted openly or arthroscopically into the enlarged drill channels using the new telos application aid. Thanks to this modern method of filling the drill channel, patients can be spared an additional procedure on the iliac crest. The significantly shorter operating time also reduces the general operating risk.

maxgraft® ortho ZYLINDER Telos

Publication on the use of maxgraft ortho bone cylinders in drill channel fillings on the knee.

The study was conducted by Dr. med Jules-Nikolaus Rippke and Dr. med Christian Eberle from the ARCUS Clinics Pforzheim and presented at the 20th ESSKA - European Society of Sports Traumatology, Knee Surgery & Arthroscopy Congress in Paris.
Interesting results are:
  • The allogenic bone graft is not inferior to the gold standard autologous corticocancellous bone graft in terms of the percentage of tunnel filling rate achieved.
  • The operation time was significantly shorter in the allograft group with a mean value of 36 minutes than in the autograft group with a mean value of 46 minutes (p = 0.0154).
